September 2020 - Sunflower competition
Residents were invited to collect some seeds and go for it.
There were 3 adult categories and the same 3 for children. The competition was open between 21st July and 7th September. Categories: Tallest plant; Greatest number of heads on one plant; Largest flower.
Three children entered. They were divided into boys 8 and under, girls 8 and under and boys over 8 so all got first prize in their category.
All winners will get a Tesco voucher and the children will also get seeds.

First prize tallest plant – girl 8 and under – Lucy, St Thomas’s Sq – 251 cms
First prize tallest plant – boy 8 and under – Jonathan, Birdwood Rd – 247 cms
First prize tallest plant – boy 9 and over – Erik, Tiverton Way – 270 cms
Tallest plant - adult
First – Gabriele, Gray Rd – 250 cms
Second – Mary, St Thomas’s Sq – 196 cms
Biggest flower - adult
First – Gay, St Thomas’s Sq – 34 cms
Second – Janet, Budleigh Close – 33 cms
Third – John and Janet, St Thomas’s Rd – 19 cms
The most heads on one plant - adult
First – Lee, Ward Rd – 34 flowers
Second – Margaret, Birdwood Rd – 18 flowers
