The Friends of St Thomas Play Park group have been working with the County Council to install critter-friendly modifications to the park.
The end of November saw the arrival of informal seating and logs for habitat, installation of bat, bird and owl boxes, removal of ivy from large tree bases, plus bulb and tree planting.
Members of the Friends Of St Thomas Play Park group have been regularily keeping the park clean and tidy, ringing in overflowing bins/fly tips, weeding the play area and re-seeding the main field.
Tree planting is scheduled Jan – March 2026 (pls see Tree Map).
The park has been registered with the WildSpaces and buglife websites, which both show the site alongside other similar sites nearby on interactive maps.
Installation of sand bank and stops for solitary bees, ivy removal on taller trees to increase light, mow regime change, beginnings of border wildflower meadow and enrolment in to butterfly conservation network!
